Cespedes Slugs Blue Jays to 7-5 Win
|
In the 7-5 Toronto win over Boston, the impact of Yoenis Cespedes was substantial. Cespedes, who is tied for 10th in the AL in extra base hits with 22, hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Ben Sheets, credited with the win, is now 2-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit. Toronto currently is in last place in the AL East Division at 23-31.
The Blue Jays got a big at-bat from right fielder Lorenzo Cain. For the game, Cain was 1 for 3 with a double. He drove in 3 runs. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 14th double of the season gave Toronto a 7-5 lead.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Cain, "one at-bat at a time."
