Tigers Trip Orioles, 6-2
|
Patrick Corbin, who is tied for 6th in the AL with a 10.6 K/9 rate, propelled his team to victory over the Baltimore Orioles. The final score was 6-2, Detroit. Reliever Ryan Borucki picked up the win. His record improves to 1-2. Aaron Nola, who is tied for 8th in the AL in innings pitched with 61.2, took the loss. Jose Leclerc sewed up the save, his 16th.
Detroit used a timely hit from Austin Hays to get the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Tigers ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
Said losing manager Pete Smith: "Give the Tigers credit. They played a better game than we did."
Detroit raised its record to 25-24 with the win.
