Rangers Come Up Short at Boston, 6-5
The Texas Rangers could not turn a fine performance from right fielder Melky Cabrera into a win. Instead, the Boston Red Sox prevailed, 6-5. Cabrera was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Boston reliever Tim Collins got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Jonathan Broxton was tagged with the loss. With this game in the books, Boston is 19-24, Texas 29-14.

Had Andruw Jones not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Jones hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Red Sox.

"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Jones.
