Orioles Fall to Boston, 12-3
|
The Boston Red Sox scored a convincing win at Oriole Park at Camden Yards 1992-2011, defeating the Baltimore Orioles, 12-3. One of the hitting stars was Alex Avila, who is tied for 6th in the AL in bases on balls with 21, who went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Shane Bieber, who went 7.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 3 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 8. His record now stands at 4-2. Baltimore is in the throes of a losing streak which has reached 9 games.
Boston used a clutch at-bat from Aristides Aquino to capture the win. The left fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Red Sox ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Bad luck's the only luck we've had," said Baltimore manager Pete Smith.
