Indians Earn Win with Late Rally
|
Starting pitcher Jonathan Pettibone gave the Cleveland Indians a rock-solid effort. The Yorba Linda, California native helped his team defeat the Boston Red Sox, 3-2, at Fenway Park. Max Fried earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. The victory makes Cleveland 26-5, as the team seeks a return to the playoffs in 2019.
Cleveland needed the clutch hitting of Gio Urshela to seal the deal. The first baseman swatted a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Indians on top, 3-2. For the game, Urshela had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I just kind of blacked out and executed my pitches," said Pettibone.
