Royals Earn 6-5 Win Versus Rangers
|
Texas got a terrific game from third baseman Tony Batista. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Kansas City, 6-5. Batista was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2. Reliever Byung-Hyun Kim picked up the win. His record improves to 5-5. B J Ryan took the loss. With the win, Kansas City pushed its record to 72-61.
When he came to bat in the bottom of the ninth, Alex Cora had a chance to be the hero. Texas pitcher B J Ryan had other ideas. But with two outs, Cora hit a run-scoring single. The Royals had themselves a dramatic win.
"It feels good to get this one," Cora told the Kansas City Times.
