Twins Lose to Rangers, 5-2
|
The Texas Rangers ushered in the 2014 season with a win versus the Minnesota Twins at The Ballpark in Arlington 1994-2011. The final score was 5-2. Starting Pitcher Justin Verlander, who finished 5th in the AL in ERA with 2.74 last year, had a standout performance. The winning pitcher was Verlander, now 1-0. He tossed 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 13.
Texas shortstop Mike Morse gave his club a productive at-bat in the bottom of the fifth inning. With a runner on 1st and the Rangers leading 1-0, Morse hit a 2-run home run.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Morse told the Texas Citizen.
