Moreland Lifts Phillies to 9-4 Triumph
|
The Philadelphia Phillies topped the Chicago Cubs, 9-4, at Wrigley Field 1979-2005. Philadelphia first baseman Mitch Moreland was a spark plug for the offense. He was 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Domingo Germán earned the win for Philadelphia. He lasted 5.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 3. With the win, he raised his record to 5-11. The win has Philadelphia at 51-74.
Philadelphia shortstop Freddy Galvis contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fourth. With two down, he hit a sinker to left-center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 81st hit of the season and put the Phillies ahead, 4-3.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Galvis.
