Mets Win, 12-4, at Colorado
|
New York parlayed a decent outing from starter Cole Hamels into a solid win over the Colorado Rockies. The final score was 12-4. Hamels, now 5-7, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. The Mets, at 49-63, sit in third place in the NL East Division.
New York won the game in part because of Jason Kipnis. The second baseman ripped a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Mets ahead, 3-0. For the game, Kipnis had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
"We didn't pitch good, and when you don't pitch good, you lose," said Colorado manager .
