The Chicago Cubs defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates, 8-5, in part because of catcher Tony Wolters. Wolters went 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Cubs. Reyes Moronta got credit for the save for Chicago. It was his 14th of the year. The win hiked the Chicago record to 59-42.

The game turned with one out in the top of the fourth. That's when Wolters hit a 3-run home run off Marcus Stroman. It propelled the Cubs into the lead, 4-1.

"The credit goes to our offense," said Chicago manager Irish Turner.
