Cubs Take Tight Tangle
|
The Chicago Cubs racked up a win at Miller Park, bumping off the Milwaukee Brewers, 4-3, in 12 innings. Ervin Santana, who started for Chicago, pitched effectively for his team. Bill Bray earned the save, his 1st in 1 tries. Chicago now sports a record of 54-40.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Victor Caratini? The 23-year old catcher Caratini stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the 12th inning to put Chicago up, 4-3. For the game, he was 2 for 2, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Fun game," said Caratini, "even when the outcome was in doubt."
