Rockies Come Up Short at Chicago, 7-6
|
The Chicago Cubs withstood a fine game by Colorado third baseman Kyle Seager at Wrigley Field 1979-2005, to upend the Rockies, 7-6. Seager was 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Reyes Moronta, credited with the save, is now 20 for 20 in save opportunities. The triumph puts Chicago at 53-37 for the season.
The Cubs got a big at-bat from first baseman José Abreu. For the game, Abreu went 2-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 15th double of the season gave Chicago a 7-5 lead.
"Our goal is to improve each and every day," Abreu told the Chicago News.
