Astros Edge Past Mets, 4-3
|
New York shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. was sensational. He went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Houston beat the Mets, 4-3. Jesse Hahn, who finished 2nd in the NL in ERA with 2.29 in 2014, was the winner in relief. His record is now 6-3. The losing pitcher was Raisel Iglesias. The first-place Astros, at 54-36, lead the NL West Division by 6 games.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth, an error by the Mets allowed the Astros to score the winning run.
Houston manager commended his team for exhibiting "no shortage of effort."
