Astros Drop Cubs, 9-8
|
The Chicago Cubs and Houston Astros provided some drama for the home crowd.
The Houston Astros grabbed a win, 9-8, over the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field 1979-2005. Houston left fielder Kyle Schwarber went 1-1 with 3 walks, while scoring 2 runs. Houston pitcher Trevor Williams earned the win, hiking his record to 5-6. Carlos Martinez suffered the loss.
Michael Bourn, who finished 3rd in the NL in stolen bases with 67 in 2011, helped out the Houston cause in the top of the second inning with a run-scoring ground out. For the game, the designated hitter was 1 for 4.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Bourn. "And not try to do too much."
Houston's record now stands at 37-49, placing them third in the NL West Division.
