Yankees Drop Orioles, 4-3
|
The New York Yankees dealt the Baltimore Orioles a 4-3 loss at Yankee Stadium 1988-2008. Ian Kinsler, who finished 5th in the AL in triples with 8 in 2013, was the star on offense. He went 3-4 with 2 doubles and a walk. Reliever Brad Bergesen picked up the win. His record improves to 4-2. Danny Duffy took the loss. Cody Allen recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 23 for 28.
Nolan Arenado had a big run-scoring double for the Yankees in the bottom of the second inning. With New York leading 3-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from 28-year old left-handed pitcher Danny Duffy and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 44th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Yankees ahead, 4-0.
"I'm proud to be a part of what we've got going on here," Kinsler told the New York Daily. "It's a great group and we're happy with the win."
The first-place Yankees have their sights set on making a deep playoff run.
