Blue Jays Trip Red Sox, 8-7, in Extra Innings
|
Despite the exploits of third baseman J.J. Hardy, the Boston Red Sox were beaten by the Toronto Blue Jays, 8-7, in 10 innings. Hardy was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. The Blue Jays win now puts them at 69-92.
Toronto got a knockout punch from Yoenis Cespedes. The left fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the bottom of the tenth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"You can't hate how you win if you win," said Toronto skipper Jared Smith.
