McNeil Stars as Orioles Top Yankees, 7-3
|
Getting a good performance from second baseman Jeff McNeil, the Baltimore Orioles defeated the New York Yankees, 7-3. McNeil went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 3 for the Orioles. Aaron Nola, the winning pitcher, improved to 17-11. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 5 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 5. Baltimore has 4 straight wins, New York 3 straight losses.
With Baltimore trailing 2-0 in the top of the third, McNeil hit a slider from Trevor Cahill for a 3-run home run. It was his 7th home run of the season and put the Orioles ahead, 3-2.
"We're all about heart and hustle on this team. That's what wins ballgames," McNeil told the Baltimore Bulletin.
