Superb Year for McCallister, Wins Most Valuable Player Award

Danny McCallister got just what he wanted after deciding to enter the free-agent market: a strong offensive performance in 2058, highlighted by his selection as the American Association Most Valuable Player Award.

The 28-year-old third baseman for Lincoln churned out a .262 batting average while amassing 84 hits, 22 doubles, 3 triples, 14 home runs, 38 runs and 46 RBIs.

His performance virtually guarantees him a lucrative payday from whichever team he signs with during the offseason.

He received 7 first place votes out of a possible 12. Joe Little of the Lincoln Saltdogs finished second in voting with 4 first place votes, while Chris Clark of the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks finished third.
