20-Game Hitting Streak for Araujo
Friday, August 27th , 2055
The streak is alive and well -- at least for today.
Dave Araujo did it again, bashing 2 hits in the contest at Everett Memorial Stadium. For the last 20 games in a row, the 22-year-old left fielder has collected at least one hit. His efforts helped the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes beat the Everett AquaSox, 16-3.
"I'm happy I kept the streak going," Araujo told a standing-room-only crowd of reporters gathered in the Salem-Keizer clubhouse. "Honestly though, I'm looking forward to going home and not thinking about this for the rest of the day." Dave Araujo flied out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, walked in the 4th, grounded out in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 8th and flied out in the 9th.
At present, Araujo is batting .356 with 99 hits and 7 home runs. He has knocked in 34 runs and scored 42 times.
