Dodson 21-Game Hitting Streak Ends
Sunday, May 2nd , 2060
Late in the game, all eyes in George M. Steinbrenner Field were on Eric Dodson as he stepped into the batter box. His 21-game hitting streak was on the line, and he had a zero in the hit column on the day. Sadly for Dodson, it was not meant to be -- the zero would stay and the streak would end.
If there was a silver lining for Dodson, it was that his Tampa Tarpons won the game anyway, stopping the Charlotte Stone Crabs by the score of 7-6.
"Winning took some of the disappointment out of it," Dodson told reporters in the clubhouse. "Looking back on it, it was a great experience. Not too many players can say they had a hit in 21 straight games. It's something I will always remember."
Dodson is batting .352 with 1 home runs and 6 RBIs this season.
