No Hits for Polen, Streak Ends at 29 Saturday, September 11th , 2060 Iowa third baseman Charlie Polen went 0-for-5 in Iowa's 4-1 triumph over the Sacramento River Cats, snapping his 29-game hitting streak. Polen spoke to BNN after the game and said he "knew the hitting streak would end sooner or later." "I just would have preferred later," he said with a laugh. "It was fun though." When Polen made an out in his last chance at the plate, his teammates congratulated him in the dugout. In the clubhouse after the game, he seemed unbothered by the streak ending. "There's nothing scientific about it, that's for sure," River Cats manager said of Polen's streak. "He had a nice little run. Let him start another one when we finish the series here." A look at his current stats shows Polen with a .377 average, 7 home runs, 31 RBIs and 27 runs scored. He has played in 44 games. |
