Muriel Named August's #1 Newcomer Wednesday, September 1st , 2060 When you think of rookies, you think of men in their early to mid-20's. Despite the fact that Marco Muriel is 31, he made a big splash by putting up solid numbers to win Korean Baseball Organization Rookie of the Month honors. He told BNN reporters at the press conference, "I'm thrilled beyond words. All I can say is... better late than never." In August, the SK first baseman hit .289 while rapping out 24 hits, 2 home runs, 16 RBIs and 6 runs scored. This season, Muriel is swinging the bat at a .274 rate with 118 hits in 430 at-bats. To date he has hit 12 home runs, scored 73 runs and driven in 71. |
