Cubs Pull Out Late-Game Win, 4-3
|
Iowa shortstop Eric Reust contributed significantly to his team's 4-3 win over the Omaha Storm Chasers. Reust went 2 for 2 with no runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Cubs. Kevin Kincheloe picked up the win in relief for Iowa, while Ted Mallon took the loss. The loss makes Omaha 54-77.
The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Steve Cotter came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Omaha pitcher Geoffrey Garbie, he hit a full count sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Iowa on top, 4-3.
