Tacoma and Reno got after it at Cheney Stadium.

The Tacoma Rainiers downed the Reno Aces, 8-5, at Cheney Stadium. Vince Polta led the way, going 3-for-5 for Tacoma. Josh Allen went 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits. The right-hander struck out 2 and walked 1. With the win, he's now 5-6 this season. Jeff Herman was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 8 of 12 save opportunities.

With Tacoma leading 4-2 in the bottom of the fourth, Polta hit a 2-run single off Reno hurler Ben Klein. It was the 65th hit of the season for Polta and put his team ahead, 6-2.

"Just trying to keep things simple and helping the team win any way I can," Polta told a local reporter after the game.

Tacoma currently is in 6th place in the Pacific Coast League North Division at 52-61.
