Behind a fine performance from Ted Ray, the Tampa Tarpons knocked off the Palm Beach Cardinals, 8-5. Ray was 1-2 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Tarpons. Tampa reliever Dario Pena was the winner. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Estevan Vives. Tampa has now won 5 in a row.

Eric Dodson went 1-6 for Tampa. The 24-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the eighth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Estevan Vives. It was his 42nd RBI of the season.
