Down to Defeat Goes Tampa, 7-3
|
The Daytona Tortugas picked up a win at Jackie Robinson Ballpark, dropping the Tampa Tarpons, 7-3. Greg Hodson, who is tied for 5th in the FSL with a 5.4 K/9 rate, was the difference-maker. Mike Rizer earned the save for Daytona, his 2nd. The current losing streak for Tampa has reached 5 games.
Bedric Pechacek had a big 2-run double for the Tortugas in the bottom of the second inning. With Daytona leading 2-1 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from Johnny Serrano, who leads the FSL with a 1.13 WHIP, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Tortugas ahead, 4-1.
"Winning never gets dull," said Pechacek.
