The St. Lucie Mets converted a terrific effort from starter Johnny Cahoone into a win over the Charlotte Stone Crabs at Clover Park. The Mets won the game by a final score of 2-0. The winner was Cahoone. He threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Veríssimo Harrison. Chris Zimmer, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 15th save.

Dan Ruggiero took Charlotte hurler Veríssimo Harrison deep in the bottom of the fifth. His 2-run home run put the Mets on top, 2-0. In all, Ruggiero had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"We leaned on our pitching tonight," Ruggiero said.

St. Lucie is now 62-44, Charlotte 35-71.
