Florida Defeats Palm Beach, 6-1
|
Florida starter Jonathan Monahan put a stranglehold on the Palm Beach offense. The right-hander had complete command of his fastball in leading the Fire Frogs to a 6-1 win. Florida reliever Bill Galindo picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Brad O'Keefe took the loss. With the win over Palm Beach, the Fire Frogs improved to 52-44.
Omar Castillo delivered a big hit for Florida. The shortstop drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Fire Frogs ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Castillo told the Florida Citizen. "It's as simple as that."
