Wet weather did not postpone the Daytona-Lakeland ballgame.

The Daytona Tortugas faced a tough opponent in Lakeland pitcher Victor Velazquez, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Joker Marchant Stadium by a final score of 7-2. Velazquez went 5 innings and allowed 1 run. Chad Spencer claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3.2 innings. His record stands at 1-0.

Daytona used the timely hitting of Dave Kane to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Tortugas on top, 5-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"It was a solid, all-around game for us," said Daytona manager .

At 45-38, the Tortugas are currently third in the FSL North.
