The Daytona Tortugas beat the Tampa Tarpons, 6-3, at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. Chris Tapia, in particular, was impressive. He was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Hyun-tae Choi got the win, improving to 4-7. He held the Tarpons to 1 run on 5 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 1. The slumping Tarpons have lost 8 straight.
With Daytona leading 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth, Tapia batted against Tampa pitcher Gui-fan Loong. Tapia hit a curveball to right-center for a 3-run home run. His 5th home run of the season put the Tortugas on top, 5-1.
"This team is headed in the right direction," said Tapia.
