McNamara goes 3-for-4 in Lakeland Win
|
With first baseman Jeff McNamara leading the charge, the Lakeland Flying Tigers defeated the Daytona Tortugas, 7-4, at Joker Marchant Stadium. McNamara, who is tied for 3rd in the FSL in triples with 2, went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Lakeland reliever Leo Nino was the winner. His record is now 3-0. Josh Chester took the loss. The Flying Tigers now have a record of 32-30.
There were several reasons the Flying Tigers beat the Tortugas, but one factor was Bobby Vitali. In the bottom of the fourth, the Lakeland third baseman came to bat and hit a run-scoring single. It staked his team to a 2-1 lead.
Vitali said afterward that he was glad to help his team win.
