7 Straight Wins for Tarpons
|
Tarpons fans were sent into a frenzy with a walk-off win.
The Tampa Tarpons earned a close win over the Charlotte Stone Crabs, thanks in part to Ken Malczynski. The Tampa left-hander, who is tied for 7th in the FSL in wins with 3, played a key role in the 12-inning, 2-1 victory. Mario Ortega, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-2. He allowed no runs on no hits in 4 innings.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 12th inning, when Tampa right fielder Eric Dodson, facing Bobby Gingerich, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Tarpons the 2-1 win.
In postgame remarks, Malczynski said: "I'm proud of our guys, of their fight."
The Tarpons have a winning streak of 7 games.
