Tarpons Need Extra Frames to Get Past Blue Jays
|
The Tarpons earned a hard-fought, 4-2 win in 10 innings at TD Ballpark. To do so required withstanding a fine effort from Dunedin pitcher Ed Melgar. Melgar went 5.1 innings and allowed no runs. Nelson L Gilmore, now 1-1, was credited with the win in 2.1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 2 and walking 1. The Blue Jays drop to 9-18, as their fitful start to the 2059 campaign continues.
Eric Postma, who is tied for 9th in the FSL with a .542 slugging percentage, had a direct impact on the outcome. Postma contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put Tampa up, 2-1.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Tampa manager .
