Spectrum Field hosted a real pitchers' duel.

Clearwater starter Andy Young put the Charlotte offense in a vise grip. The right-hander relied heavily on his fastball in leading the Threshers to a 1-0 win. Vince Lane nailed down his 4th save.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Threshers had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when left fielder Dusty Loomer hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Jonathan Kelly and made the score 1-0, Threshers. Loomer was 1 for 3.

"There was no wiggle room in this one," said Loomer.

Clearwater has a record of 16-9.
