Bradenton starter Chad Fuchs put a stranglehold on the Charlotte offense. The right-hander had complete command of his splitter in leading the Marauders to a 3-1 win. The winner was Fuchs. He threw 8.0 innings of 4-hit ball. The loser was Joe Forsyth. With the win, Bradenton is 11-7.

The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Micah Adkins came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Charlotte pitcher Zach Jacobson, he hit a 3-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Bradenton on top, 2-1.

"Chad just settled in and did what he does," said Bradenton manager .
