There was no shortage of dramatics at Riverfront Stadium.

The Wichita Wind Surge had to overcome a fine effort from Nashville pitcher Ruben Rivero to win, 2-1, at Riverfront Stadium. Rivero went 6.1 innings and allowed no runs. Dave D'Amico picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 3-2. Joe Mays suffered the loss.

Nate Messerly clinched the win with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the 11th. In the game, the Wichita second baseman went 2 for 4 with a double.

"What a buzz," said Messerly after it was over.

Wichita's record now stands at 45-42, placing them 5th in the Pacific Coast League South Division.
