Rainiers Deal Chihuahuas 7-5 Loss
|
The Tacoma Rainiers overcame a good performance by El Paso center fielder Chris Eckhoff to knock off El Paso, 7-5, at Southwest University park. Eckhoff was 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Tacoma reliever Alan Porath picked up the win, upping his record to 4-0. Ken Hines was saddled with the loss. Alan Darilek got the save, the 20th for him this season.
This game was not decided until late. With no one out in the top of the tenth, Freddie Wingfield hit a sacrifice fly. The Rainiers took the lead, 5-4.
Wingfield told a Tacoma Herald reporter that he was "very pleased" with the win.
Tacoma is now 51-39.
