Grizzlies Held in Check by River Cats, Lose, 6-1
|
The Sacramento River Cats beat the Fresno Grizzlies, 6-1, at Sutter Health Park. Starting pitcher Jamie Cunningham was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Cunningham got the win, improving to 3-2. He gave up 3 hits and walked 2 over 7.1 innings. He allowed 1 run. The 4th-place River Cats sport a record of 39-43.
Rick Penton cracked a home run off Chris Harris in the bottom of the first. His 2-run blast put the River Cats on top, 2-1. In all, Penton had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 5.
"You want to go out there and put up zeroes, that's the main thing," said Cunningham. "You don't want to get caught in one of those back-and-forth, run-for-run games."
