Rainiers Stick Storm Chasers with 4-1 Loss
Tacoma starter Steve Goodbread pitched well against the Omaha Storm Chasers at Cheney Stadium. The left-hander led his team to a win, 4-1. Goodbread yielded 1 run over 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 1. His record improves to 4-2. Tacoma, at 46-32, is 4½ games up in the Pacific Coast League North Division.

The Storm Chasers had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Rainiers going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 28-year old third baseman Mr. Brownfield came to the plate. Brownfield hit a run-scoring double on a 0-1 curveball from Omaha hurler Angel Hurtado. It was Brownfield's 2nd double of the year.

"Clutch hitting plus clutch pitching usually equals a win," said Brownfield.
