Dan Stamp pitched well, but the Wichita Wind Surge still lost the game, falling, 2-1, to the El Paso Chihuahuas at Riverfront Stadium. Jim Oesterling, credited with the save, is now 10 for 13 in save opportunities. The Chihuahuas, at 26-34, sit in 6th place in the Pacific Coast League South Division.

El Paso used the timely hitting of Chad Baker to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Chihuahuas on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"We busted our tails," said Wichita manager . "But we came up short."
