Not everyone stuck through the 66-minute rain delay, but those who did went home happy.

Wichita starter Pat Metts put a stranglehold on the El Paso offense. The right-hander had complete command of his fastball in leading the Wind Surge to a 7-0 win. Wichita is now 30-29, El Paso 25-34.

The outcome was still in doubt with two out in the top of the fourth inning, but Metts was able to pitch out of a jam. With the bases loaded and El Paso trailing 2-0, Metts retired Alan Polidori, who flied out.
