Salt Lake parlayed a decent outing from starter David Fernandez into a solid win over the Reno Aces. The final score was 7-2. Fernandez got the win, improving to 1-1. He gave up 4 hits and walked 2 over 6.2 innings. He allowed no runs. Picking up his 10th save was 23-year old right-handed pitcher Billy McCarron.
The Bees got a big at-bat from designated hitter Steve Clifton. For the game, Clifton went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 13th home run of the season gave Salt Lake a 2-0 lead.
"We're all about heart and hustle on this team. That's what wins ballgames," Clifton told the Salt Lake Citizen.
The win makes Salt Lake 38-15.
