The Iowa Cubs got a superb performance from pitcher Cesar Escamilla, but the Nashville Sounds still won the game, 4-3. Escamilla threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. Nashville is now 23-24, while Iowa is 19-28.
Had Nick Morales not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Morales hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Sounds.
"You need to show up when your number's called," said Morales.
