Rainiers Stay Hot with Extra-Inning Win
|
Memphis got a big-time effort from pitcher Danny Ortiz, but it wasn't enough to keep the Tacoma Rainiers from winning the game, 5-4. Ortiz threw 7.0 innings allowing 3 runs for the losing team. Steve Tennessen picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-3. Joe Garvey suffered the loss. With the victory, the Rainiers upped their record to 26-17.
Up to bat in the bottom of the tenth, 27-year old third baseman Danny Dressel had a chance to be the hero. Memphis pitcher Joe Garvey wanted to foil that plan. But with one out, Dressel hit a sacrifice fly. The Rainiers had themselves a thrilling win.
"Exhilarating win," said Dressel.
