River Cats Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Chihuahuas, 6-2
|
The Sacramento River Cats got a stellar performance from pitcher Kevin Eager, who handcuffed the El Paso offense en route to a win, 6-2, at Sutter Health Park. Sacramento reliever Bob Wood got the win, raising his record to 1-1. Mike Walker was tagged with the loss. With the win, Sacramento is 13-10.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Jeff Nault came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing El Paso pitcher Mike Walker, he hit a 0-2 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Sacramento on top, 2-1.
"I thought we competed really well," said River Cats manager . "I thought the energy was really good."
