The Salt Lake Bees pinned a convincing loss on the Round Rock Express, 16-2, at Smith's Ballpark. Jamie Oyler was a main factor in the win. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 3 for Salt Lake. The winning pitcher was 22-year old left-handed pitcher Joe Kirkland. He tossed 91 pitches over 6.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits. Round Rock falls to 10-6.

The Bees got a big hit from left fielder Steve Clifton. Facing Round Rock pitcher Mike Clark in the bottom of the eighth, Clifton pounded a 3-run home run to left-center. His 2nd home run of the season put the Bees ahead, 16-2.

"You can't sugarcoat this one," said Round Rock manager . "They laid the wood on us."
