Great Day for Higareda -- 5 Hits
|
It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-5 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Oscar Higareda, it came around today.
The 20-year-old center fielder scattered hits all over Peoria Sports Complex to pace the 11-2 Seattle (AZL) Mariners victory over the Cincinnati (AZL) Reds.
Cincinnati (AZL) skipper told reporters in the press room that "Higareda deserves a hat-tip."
"He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Higareda hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit."
Oscar Higareda singled in the 1st, walked in a run in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 4th, doubled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
So far in 2058 Higareda is batting .333 with 1 home run, 7 RBIs and 10 runs scored. He has 16 hits in 48 at-bats and a .448 OBP.
