The Atlanta (GCL) Braves and Miami (GCL) Marlins put on a pitchers' duel.
The Atlanta (GCL) Braves banked on Steve Carlton and he turned in a masterful performance. The right-hander kept the Miami (GCL) hitters in check. The final score was 2-0, Braves. Atlanta (GCL) reliever Jose de Leon picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Steve Otto absorbed the loss. Ramon Lezcano closed it out for his 4th save.
Chris Daigle drew 1 walk in his only trip to the plate for Atlanta (GCL). The 19-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring walk off Steve Otto. It was his 6th walk of the season.
"Steve did what Steve does," said Atlanta (GCL) manager .
With the win, Atlanta (GCL) raised its record to 29-24.
