The Washington (GCL) Nationals reigned over the New York A (GCL) Yankees in damp conditions.
Starting pitcher Ricky Aguirre fulfilled his part of the bargain, helping the Washington (GCL) Nationals stymie the New York A (GCL) Yankees, 3-1. The winning pitcher was Aguirre, now 7-1. He tossed 5.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 4.
Mike Bettridge, who is tied for 9th in the GCL in RBI with 30, aided the Washington (GCL) cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the designated hitter drove in one run.
"I give credit to my teammates for this win. We got it done," Bettridge told the Washington (GCL) Observer.
Washington (GCL), at 33-12, is cruising.
