The New York A (GCL) Yankees beat the Kansas City (GCL) Royals, 8-4, at George M. Steinbrenner Field. Ben Barnson, in particular, was impressive. He was 4-5 with 4 singles. He scored 2 runs. Ethan Robinson recorded the save, his 1st. The Yankees, now 3-1, have hit the ground running this season.

The Royals had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Yankees going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 20-year old right fielder Mike Steward came to the plate. Steward hit a run-scoring triple on a 1-2 sinker from Kansas City (GCL) hurler Sean Wells. It was Steward's 1st triple of the year.

"We took home the win," said Barnson. "What's not to like?"
