Spirited fans greeted the Albuquerque Isotopes for their clash with the Iowa Cubs.
The Iowa Cubs beat the Albuquerque Isotopes, 5-1, at Rio Grande Credit Union Field at Isotopes Park. Iowa first baseman Eric Cross, who is tied for 4th in the PCL in extra base hits with 5, collected 3 singles and 1 double with 1 run batted in. Iowa goes to 9-3.
Iowa used a timely hit from Jerry Lawless to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Cubs ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.
"You need to show up when your number's called," said Lawless.
